Altrady Trading Terms: A-Z Glossary

This glossary is a quick map of the words you’ll see across Altrady: what each one means and where to read more if you want the full picture. It doesn’t re-explain the deep-dive topics, it just points you to them.

A

API Key: a set of credentials you create on your exchange and paste into Altrady so it can read your balances and place the orders you tell it to. It can never withdraw your funds. See What is an API key?.

Available Balance: the amount you can actually put into a new order right now, which can be lower than your total assets because some funds are reserved by open orders or positions. Explained in Available Balance vs your Assets.

B

Base Currency (Base coin): the first coin in a trading pair, the one you’re actually buying or selling. In BTC/USDT, BTC is the base coin. See Base Currency vs Quote Currency Explained.

Base Scanner: Altrady’s built-in scanner that runs statistical analysis across markets and surfaces alerts based on preset rules. It doesn’t tell you what to trade, it flags markets that match a configuration you or a preset set up.

Bid / Ask: the Bid is the highest price buyers are currently offering, the Ask is the lowest price sellers are asking. The gap between them is the spread. Both appear in the trading widget order form.

Break-Even: the price your position needs to reach to cover fees paid so far, so closing there is neither a profit nor a loss. It moves as you add to or partially close a position. Covered in full in Understanding Position Info Numbers.

D

DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging): spreading an entry across several orders at different prices instead of buying all at once, so your average entry follows the market. You can build it as a DCA position or automate it with a DCA / signal bot.

E

Equity: the value of your holdings, shown at three levels: Portfolio Equity (everything across all connected exchanges), Folder Equity (one folder’s coins), and Account Equity (one connected exchange account). See Portfolio, Folder & Account Equity Explained.

F

Fast Connect: a one-click way to connect a supported exchange without creating an API key by hand, Altrady sets up the connection for you.

Fill: a trade that executes part or all of an order. An order can fill in one go or in several fills at different prices.

Funding Fee: a periodic payment exchanged between long and short traders on perpetual futures. Altrady doesn’t fold funding fees into a position’s PnL, so a long-running futures position can drift slightly from the exchange’s figure. See Margin mode, leverage, and liquidation explained.

G

Grid Bot: a bot that places a ladder of buy and sell orders across a price range you set, on spot markets. Set-up in How to Set Up a Grid Bot.

H

Hedge Mode / One-Way Mode: on futures, One-Way mode keeps a single position per contract, while Hedge mode lets you hold a long and a short on the same contract at once. Compared in Hedge mode vs One-Way mode.

L

Ladder Order: a single order split into several price levels at once, so you enter or exit in steps. See How do I place ladder orders?.

Leverage: how much borrowed exposure a futures position uses compared to your own margin. Full explanation, including liquidation risk, in Margin Mode, Leverage & Liquidation Explained.

Liquidation: on a leveraged futures position, the point where losses reach your margin and the exchange force-closes the position. Explained alongside margin in Margin mode, leverage, and liquidation explained.

Long / Short: the direction of a trade. Long means you profit if the price rises, Short means you profit if the price falls. Both are available wherever Altrady lets you open a position or place an order.

M

Manual Position: a position Altrady rebuilds from your orders and trades rather than one it opened as a smart position, useful when you traded outside Altrady or need to fix a position’s data. See Converting between smart and manual positions.

Margin / Margin Mode: margin is the collateral a futures position uses; margin mode is either Isolated (only that position’s margin is at risk) or Cross (the account balance backs the position). See Margin mode, leverage, and liquidation explained.

Market Explorer: Altrady’s research view for rankings, categories, gainers and losers, dominance, and news. Start in How do I use Market Explorer to research a coin?.

O

Order Types: the ways Altrady can place an order, Market, Limit, Stop, OCO, Trailing, and Ladder. Start with market, limit, and stop orders, then OCO and trailing stop orders.

P

Paper Trading: a practice account that places simulated orders using live market prices, no real money involved. Good for trying out the app or a bot idea first. Walkthrough in Practice with Paper Trading.

PnL: short for Profit and Loss. Altrady shows it as Realized PnL (closed portion), Unrealized PnL (open portion), and Net PnL (realized plus unrealized, minus fees). The formulas are broken down in Understanding Position Info Numbers.

Portfolio: your combined view across every connected exchange account, organized into folders. This is where Portfolio Equity is calculated. See Portfolio, Folder & Account Equity Explained.

Q

Quote Currency (Quote coin): the second coin in a trading pair, the one prices are measured in. In BTC/USDT, USDT is the quote coin. See Base Currency vs Quote Currency Explained.

S

Signal Bot: a bot that opens and manages positions from signals, whether your own rules, a webhook, or a TradingView alert. Signal bots require a paid plan. Set-up in How to set up and configure a DCA / signal bot.

Smart Position: Altrady’s way of opening a trade with take-profit and stop-loss configured up front, instead of placing separate orders one by one. Set-up steps in Set Up Smart Position Take-Profit & Stop-Loss.

Stop Loss: an exit configured to close a position if the price moves against you past a level you set, to cap a loss. Set it up in Set up a smart position with take profit and stop loss.

T

TA Scanner: a scanner that applies technical-analysis templates (indicators, patterns) across markets and lists matches as alerts, similar in spirit to Base Scanner but built around technical indicators rather than statistical rules.

Take Profit: an exit configured to close all or part of a position once the price reaches a target you set. Configured alongside stop loss in Set up a smart position with take profit and stop loss.

Time in Force (and Post Only): order settings that control how long an order stays active and whether it must be a maker order. Explained in What do Post Only and Time in Force do?.

W

Watchlist / Watchlists: a custom list of markets you’re keeping an eye on, separate from your Portfolio. A market can sit on a watchlist without you holding any of it; add or remove markets any time. Getting started in Take a Tour of the Dashboard.
