Fix an invalid or expired exchange account
If one of your trading accounts shows as invalid or expired in Altrady, your orders will fail to place and your balances will stop updating. The good news is this is almost always fixed in a couple of minutes, and it never puts your funds at risk.
Why this happens
An account usually goes invalid or expired for one of these reasons:
- The API key was deleted or expired on the exchange itself.
- The key’s permissions were changed on the exchange, so it no longer matches what Altrady needs.
- The exchange requires you to renew your API key periodically (some exchanges expire keys automatically after a set period for security).
- The exchange’s IP whitelist for that key no longer includes Altrady’s IP addresses.
How to fix it
- Create a fresh API key on the exchange. Log in to your exchange’s website and generate a new API key. Follow the exchange’s own setup guide for exact steps: see our Exchange Guides.
- Replace the key on your existing trading account in Altrady rather than creating a brand new account. This keeps your trade history intact. See: Replace an API key on an existing account.
- Check the IP whitelist on the exchange side to make sure Altrady’s addresses are still allowed. See: IP whitelisting explained.
Once the new key is saved, your account should show as connected again, and orders and balances will resume updating normally.
A note on safety
Replacing an API key never touches your funds. Altrady only ever needs read and trade permissions, and it can never withdraw money from your exchange account, no matter which key is connected.
