How do AI credits work?

AI credits are a separate balance from your subscription plan, spent only by AI Chat and AI Market Reports. Quick chart analysis uses a different, separate monthly quota, so it does not touch your credit balance at all.

Two different AI limits, not one

Altrady has two AI systems that customers sometimes mix up:

  • Chart analysis quota: when you use the Analyse button or an AI analysis preset on a chart, that draws from a monthly analysis quota. Altrady shows how many you have used against your limit in the app. This quota resets monthly and has nothing to do with your credit balance.
  • AI credits: a separate balance spent by AI Chat (the chat assistant) and AI Market Reports (the shareable report catalog). This article is about that balance.

If your chart analysis quota runs low, your AI credits are unaffected, and the reverse is also true. Keep the two straight: one is a usage count for chart reads, the other is a spendable balance for chat and reports.

What actually spends your AI credits

Two features debit your credit balance:

  1. AI Chat. Every message you send in the chat drawer draws down your balance based on how much the assistant reads and writes. The chat drawer shows a running indicator, “X credits left,” so you can see your balance drop as the conversation goes on. If your balance hits zero mid-conversation, Altrady still finishes replying rather than cutting you off, then shows “You’re out of AI credits. Top up to continue.” on your next message.
  2. AI Market Reports. This is the catalog of ready-made reports, including Market analysis, DCA strategy suggestion, Trade setup suggestion, and Grid bot suggestion. Each report type lists its credit cost right on the request screen before you ask for it, so you always know the price before you commit. If a report request fails to generate, Altrady refunds the credits automatically, you don’t lose the balance for a report you never received.

Where your credits come from

Your AI credit balance can be topped up from up to three sources, all pooled into one number:

  • A monthly free allotment that renews automatically and expires at the end of the month if unused.
  • A paid AI Chat monthly allotment, if your plan or an AI Chat addon includes one. This also expires at the end of its period.
  • Purchased top-up credits you buy directly. These don’t expire.

You’ll always see one combined balance, not three separate ones. When you spend credits, Altrady draws from whichever source is closest to expiring first, so allotments that are about to reset get used before credits that never expire.

Checking your balance

Your current AI credit balance shows in the chat drawer whenever you’re using AI Chat, and in the report request screen before you confirm a report. For a fuller picture of what’s expiring and when, see check your balance and get more AI credits.

Why report costs aren’t fixed forever

Report costs can be adjusted per report type over time, so treat the number shown on the request screen as the source of truth rather than memorizing a fixed price. It’s always displayed before you request the report, so there’s no guessing involved.

Running low or out of credits

If AI Chat tells you that you’re out of credits, or a report request warns you don’t have enough for that report type, you have options for adding more without waiting for the monthly reset. See AI credits expiring or insufficient credits for what to do next.

Still stuck?

If your credit balance looks wrong, or a report didn’t refund credits after failing, reach out through support chat in the app and the team will take a look at your account directly.
